THE JUST GOD AND THE DESTINY OF EVERY SOUL

THE JUST GOD AND THE DESTINY OF EVERY SOUL

First, I want to say that the questions we're asking concerning salvation and the fate of children, the mentally unfit as well as those who lived before Christ, are very essential to our Christian Faith, and I am glad that we are discussing them.

If we say that there is only one way by which men are saved and that God is a just God, then there has to be a fairness to men who did not hear to be saved, Children/mentally unfit people who do not have the capacity to make these decisions, as well as those who lived long before the coming of Christ.

This is why I have named this teaching: The Just God and the Destiny of Every Soul.

Tonight, we will explore these truths through Scripture, seeing how God’s fairness and mercy extends to all people, and seek to understand the depth of His righteous and loving character.

Before we start answering these questions,

I would first like us to establish a truth about God. It determines and influences what we see as we look through scripture.

“who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” ‭‭I Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

You see this scripture right here; it is the basis for everything I’m about to teach. It will help us judge and discern correctly what is true and what is not.

Sometime last year, while preparing for the Upper Room Maryland, we were praying one morning for the unsaved. I was on the road heading home from a vigil when I clearly heard the Lord speak this scripture to me. I had never seen God’s heart in this way before, in all my life.

God does not desire that even one person should die unsaved. How could God create something in His image and be okay with its destruction? His will is that all men be saved. ALL, not some. Not just Jews. Every single person.

But to fully grasp this, I need to take you back to the beginning so you can understand the story.

“If all men can be saved, why can’t God just carry everybody into heaven and save them?”

😭😭😭

I have asked God this particular question before as a growing teen. I’m sure I stressed out my then pastor with questions on Salvation.

Good God!

All-powerful, owns everything, can do and undo, why not just save everybody since you desire all men to be saved? 😭

The answer lies in sin and God’s righteous demand for justice.

“You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And cannot look on wickedness. Why do You look on those who deal treacherously, And hold Your tongue when the wicked devours A person more righteous than he?” Habakkuk‬ ‭1‬:‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Your eyes are so pure that you cannot stand the sight of evil; nor do you look on wickedness with favor. Why then do you tolerate the treacherous? Why are you so silent while sinners devour those more righteous than themselves?” Habakkuk‬ ‭1‬:‭13‬ ‭TPT‬‬

God’s eyes are too pure to behold evil!

God cannot behold evil.

To say that we should all make heaven and our sins be ignored is to say that God should behold evil and maybe cease to exist.

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face.” Psalms‬ ‭89‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Righteousness and justice are how His throne was founded. They cannot be eroded.

God is perfectly holy and just. His throne cannot overlook sin; in fact, it is against His very nature to ignore sin.

Sin carries consequences, and God’s justice requires that these consequences be addressed. To simply “erase” sin without justice would compromise His holiness. God cannot save everybody by simply overlooking sin, even if He desires to save all.

And this is where the beauty and mystery of God’s plan come in; the only way to satisfy both His justice and His mercy was through the sending of Christ.

God had to come and die so that all men might be saved. This is His desire playing out.

He did not just come and die, He came as man.

Christ descended, lived as man, suffered, was beaten and spat on, crucified, hung as a public spectacle, until he drew his last breath.

The desire of God for men to be saved is so real, it is not "faabu" (fables)

We see this expressed in Jesus and how He became the Mediator between God and humanity, taking upon Himself the weight of sin that justice demanded.

But what does it mean to be a Mediator?

When we say that Christ is our mediator, what are we really saying?

A Mediator is someone who stands in the gap between two parties that cannot come together on their own.

Two parties have issues that they cannot resolve eye-to-eye? A mediator comes in.

Humanity was separated from God because of sin, and no one could bridge that gap on their own. So for humanity to stand before a holy God, a mediator had to step in to speak on our behalf and to bring reconciliation.

But simply being a Mediator was not enough. God’s justice demanded that the penalty of sin be fully addressed. That is where the role of the Sacrifice comes in.

A sacrifice takes upon itself the consequence of wrongdoing, paying the price that justice requires. Humanity could also not satisfy this requirement; we were incapable of standing in the place of ourselves.

This is how you know God truly desires that all men to be saved.

He is the one whose throne demands righteousness.

He is the one who then came to die and become a sacrifice, so He gets our consequence.

He is also the one who then rises as our mediator and advocate.

Yoruba people call "advocate" "agba ejó rò and I think this is such a perfect description; the literal meaning is "one who collects another person’s case to plead it."

God’s holiness and justice set the rules that could not be bypassed, and His love and desire for humanity meant He had to enter into the solution Himself.

Salvation required a perfect bridge between divine justice and human need, and Christ became that bridge, carrying the weight of sin and offering the opportunity for every soul to be reconciled to God.

This is God’s desire!

I need us to understand this part clearly as we move forward to answer the rest of the questions.

If God went through all of this,

If He could go out of His way to ensure that all men be saved,

Do we really think this desire was something He only developed later? Do we not believe that God desired this from the very moment humanity fell into sin? Do we not think that a God like Him, full of wisdom and love, immediately began to craft a plan to restore mankind?

And if this is true, do we not also believe that such a God would, out of His desire for salvation, make provision for those who were not yet alive, or who lived long before the perfect provisions for Christ’s coming came together?

The question then becomes: How did this good and righteous God fulfill His desire for salvation before Christ while remaining perfectly just?

We’ve said God desires all men to be saved.

Was this desire on pause before Christ?

How did He effect this until the coming of Christ?

Did God simply wait, watching generations live and die, with no provision in place until the cross was finally established?

Scripture makes it clear that the answer is no.

God did not pause His desire to save humanity. Even before Christ came in the flesh, He made a way for people to be reconciled to Himself. Those who lived before Christ were not left without hope.

“And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.” Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭39‬-‭40‬ ‭NKJV

From Heb 11:38-40, we see that these faithful men and women “did not receive the promise” in its fullness, yet their faith was counted to them. Their salvation was through Christ, even before His coming in time. God applied the redemptive work of Christ retroactively, ensuring that His justice and mercy were fully satisfied.

The sacrifices of bulls, the law, and the covenants were not the ultimate solution; they were but temporary coverings and signs pointing forward to the true Mediator and Sacrifice.

When we read Hebrews 10:4, it says

“For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.”

So even though they were sacrificing bulls and goats, their sins couldn’t be taken away by it. It was but a temporary fix. They symbolized the payment that would ultimately be made by Christ, showing that God’s justice required a penalty for sin, while His mercy made provision for forgiveness.

Notice carefully again from Hebrew 11: they “did not receive the promise” in its fullness, yet they were saved.

What saved them?

Faith!

In fact, Faith is how men are saved even in Christ today.

Faith was how men were saved before Christ.

Their faith and trust were counted as righteousness because God’s plan already had a solution, which is the cross. Salvation has always been by trust in God’s provision, not by works, sacrifices, or human effort alone.

What is God’s provision for us now?

Christ!

And scripture makes us to understand that Christ is the Word.

The word that existed from the beginning!

Fix that into my earlier statement, and we see that, salvation has always been trust in God’s word.

This is how men were saved in the Old Testament: they believed God.

They simply believed the word of God.

"Abraham, leave your father’s land and go to where I will show you."

Faith right there. Faith that bought salvation!

Faith in God’s Word is what connected every Old Testament saint to the ultimate provision: Christ.

Their obedience, sacrifices, and life were important not as a source of salvation, but as expressions of faith in the God who had already provided the solution for sin.

And this is the same for us New Testament saints. In fact, it is why we are called Believers.

I think we need to read Hebrews 11 again. You can read my verse-by-verse exegesis of Hebrews 11, as it relates to the subject of 'Faith', HERE.

Back to the Old Testament…

Abraham was not the only one who was saved by trusting God’s Word. Many others, including those outside Israel, were also counted righteous because they believed God’s promises. While we don’t have stories about our own forefathers documented inside of Scripture, I strongly believe that even some of them too may have obtained salvation by Faith.

Rahab, a Canaanite woman in Jericho, trusted the Word of God spoken through the Israelite spies. Even though Rahab was not part of God’s covenant people, her faith in His Word aligned her with His redemptive plan, and she was saved.

All she did was believe that God was going to help the Israelites win the battle and not only was Rahab saved through faith, but she also became part of the lineage of the Messiah.

Just look at!

Another example is Ruth, a Moabite.

She left her people and declared her faith in God

“But Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God.”

‭‭Ruth‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬ ‭NKJV

Your God shall be my God!

This is how she was saved. God’s plan and His provision have always been both just and merciful.

He reaches ALL people in the ways that are consistent with His character, always offering a path of salvation through faith, in alignment with His ultimate provision in Christ.

In every age

Every tribe

Every Nation

God has been faithful to His desire: that all men be saved.

And He has provided the way through the promised Messiah, the Word made flesh, Christ Jesus.

Now, if God has always found a way to reach people, even before Christ, what about those today who have never heard the gospel? Or children and those who are not capable of making a conscious decision for themselves?

We see the same principle at work.

God’s justice is perfect. While sin must be dealt with, His mercy is boundless. His mercy exists for all!

Just as He applied the provision of Christ retroactively to the faithful of the Old Testament, we can trust that He is not and will not be unfair to those who, through no fault of their own, have never heard the gospel or cannot understand it.

“for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.” Romans‬ ‭2‬:‭14‬-‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Those who are not Jews don’t have the law. But when they naturally do what the law commands without even knowing the law, then they are their own law. This is true even though they don’t have the written law. They show that in their hearts they know what is right and wrong, the same as the law commands, and their consciences agree. Sometimes their thoughts tell them that they have done wrong, and this makes them guilty. And sometimes their thoughts tell them that they have done right, and this makes them not guilty. All this will happen on the day when God will judge people’s secret thoughts through Jesus Christ. This is part of the Good News that I tell everyone." ‭‭Romans‬ ‭2‬:‭14‬-‭16‬ ‭ERV‬‬

Reading this scripture at first glance, it might sound like God is judging people by their works. But read again carefully, and you will see God is not saying that good works earn salvation. Works are never the currency of salvation. Salvation has always been by faith in God’s provision.

In the Old Testament, that meant trusting His promises; today, it means trusting Christ.

What Romans 2 is showing us is that works reveal what is in the heart. They are evidence of whether a person has responded to the truth God has placed before them. Even people who have never heard the gospel still have a conscience, a sense of right and wrong, and God judges them according to how they respond to that, not by the mere number or doing of good deeds.

God judges according to the light and knowledge people have, and always applies salvation through the provision He has made in Christ.

So even for people who have never heard the gospel, or children and those unable to make decisions, we can be assured that God’s judgment is just, merciful, and consistent.

What I am essentially trying to say is this:

Everyone, at every point in history, has had a chance to respond to God in faith.

In the Old Testament, people like Abraham, Rahab, and Ruth were saved because they trusted God’s Word, even before Christ came. God’s provision was always available to Israelites and non-Israelites alike.

Today, even those who have never heard the gospel, as well as children and those unable to make decisions for themselves, are fully known to God, and His justice and mercy ensure they are given a fair opportunity to be saved.

Salvation has always been by faith. Faith in God’s Word and His provision, and this principle has never changed.

In every age, in every circumstance, God’s desire is the same: that all men be saved, and He has always provided a way for them to respond.

Deaf people, for example, probably cannot hear the gospel when I preach to them, does that mean they are condemned?

God finds ways to reach men, always!

Does this mean we can relent in preaching the gospel because God finds a way to save people?

Absolutely not.

While God’s justice and mercy ensure that every person is given a fair opportunity, Scripture makes it clear that the ordinary and primary way God brings people to salvation is through the proclamation of His Word.

Your preaching of the gospel is the fair opportunity for salvation to those who hear you.

There are men learning sign languages just so they can preach to the deaf, this is the understanding of that fair opportunity.

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭NKJV

Faith comes by hearing the Word, and God uses His people as instruments to carry the message of salvation to the world. Preaching the gospel is our God-given responsibility.

In every age, tribe, nation, for every kind of person, God has been faithful. His justice is satisfied, His mercy is extended, and salvation has always been available to all who respond in faith.

I will end here:

This is the heart of God: just, merciful, and desiring that none should perish.

Bible Study: Mark 1 [The beginning of the Good News of Jesus]

Mark 1: The beginning of the Good News of Jesus

THE BOOK OF MARK

We started another book in the Bible!
Matthew was an awesome read for me and I'm grateful for the fresh revelations about the person of Christ and excited that another journey has started.
In fact, I think I am very much more excited that I am starting the book of Mark on Christmas Day, that the very first thing I read about on the morning of the birth of Jesus is the story of His birth and coming. Absolutely loveeeeet 💖.
If you missed Matthew, this is another chance to know Christ as Mark saw Him.
If you've read this book before, come with an open mind to learn.

May the person of Christ be revealed to us all as we read,
May we see Jesus in the pages of this book like never before.

Amen.

This is the beginning of the wonderful news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God. It starts with Isaiah the prophet, who wrote: Listen! I am sending my messenger ahead of you and he will prepare your way! He is a thunderous voice of one who shouts in the wilderness: “Prepare your hearts for the coming of the Lord Yahweh, and clear a straight path inside your hearts for him!”
Mark 1:1-3 TPT

Just look at the beauty in this opening. 😭😭😭
It hits so different for me today.

The beginning of the most wonderful news ever, Jesus, the one who is Messiah and also the Son of God.
But please notice something in this chapter: where this wonderful news began.

The ERV says, "This good news begins with what the prophet Isaiah said would happen..."
The story of this wonderful news, Jesus (Note that Christ is not bringing the news; He is the news), is not starting at or with His birth. Mark dates the beginning of Christ to the Prophet Isaiah.

We see Isaiah giving a prophecy about Christ and His coming.

What is a prophecy?
A message communicated to us by God.
A prophecy is literally God's mind/will communicated to man.

The story of Jesus began with a prophecy from Isaiah.
The story of Jesus began in God's mind.
Let me take it a notch higher: The story of Jesus began with God's will.

And what is God's will?

That all men be saved and come to the knowledge of Him!

The keyword here is man, as centred in the will of God.

So I fix this back in Mark's narrative :
The story of Jesus began with man in God's mind!

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus today, we must understand that which we are really celebrating. That if we miss the part of God’s mind being so full of man that He had to come to the world and be birth to die, then we’ve missed it. That if you look at the story of Jesus; He who was born in a manger, and you do not see a picture of yourself in it, you’ve missed it. Whatever story we will be reading in the book of Mark and other gospels,  please be reminded that it has you centred in it.

You are a huge part of the story of Jesus.
I am a huge part of the story of Jesus.

The most wonderful news that ever came to you and me began in the mind of God.
This right here was the inception.
First, His thoughts.

If such a wonder could come from God's thinking and it was indeed accomplished, then let's look at where we fit in.

For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.
Jeremiah 29:11 AMPC

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 NKJV

Seeeeee
For God so loved the world that He gave Jesus.
For God so loved you that He gave Jesus.
For God so loved you that Jesus had to be born.

Man is the main character in the story of the birth of Christ.
You are the main character in this story.
You! Yes, You!

We celebrate the birth of Jesus because there is a God who loves you.

And even as I type, I am led to share this for anyone who has been feeling dejected and alone for a while now:
God loves you
You’ve probably heard this so much, and you are tired of it.
But I remind you still: God loves you.
He thought of you when He sent Jesus to be birth to die,
It was you on His mind.
He has the details of your life sorted.
You are on God’s mind,
You are in God’s plan,
He has not forgotten you.
Your God has not forgotten you.

In the same way the story of Christ started from the mind of God, so are you in His thoughts.

You are a part of this story, fully considered in it from inception.

Whatever I am, whatever I will be, I had first become inside the mind of the Almighty.
I am not becoming; I am already inside of the mind of God, which is His will.
There is a final outcome in all of these thoughts, and of course, it is beautiful. It is wonderful.

It is important that we know the mind of God. Very important, as it is what gives us hope about our end/final outcome.
We know that it stands.

Let me break it down into 2 as it is coming to me:

1. I am inside of the mind of God. I have been in His thoughts before I existed.
Though things may not be going as I want at the moment, this phase and the way out of it have been in the thoughts of God.

His thoughts towards me are as powerful as His words about me because it is that which He conceived in His mind that is spoken/written about me.

Before I became Olúrèmí, I first was in the mind of God!

2. The Holy Spirit broke this down to me that the thoughts of God towards me are Christ and everything He did on the cross.

When the Lord told His mind about Christ to the prophet Isaiah, I Olúrèmí, I was on His mind too.
My final outcome is based on this thought about Christ.

The wonderful news, Christ, began with God's mind poured out through the Prophet Isaiah.

My Glorious end began also in this place!

So if you are confused as to what God thinks about you, start with Christ. Go back to His birth and the love that engineered it.
If you are ever in doubt of God’s love, please always find your way back here.

In fact, you should talk to someone about God’s love for them. You can’t keep this to yourself.
People cannot afford to not know that they were specifically on God’s mind when He thought of Christ coming to the earth. They shouldn’t be ignorant of such intentionality in love. We owe it to men.

Please, today, go out and talk about the love of God.

Back to Mark 1:3

Clear a straight path inside of your heart for Him.

You see, the position Christ has come to take is at the very core of us.

Inside of your heart, where life itself flows from. Your heart stops beating, and that is it.
This is where Christ came for,
Your very heart beat.

Clear a straight path for Him inside of your heart.
Not to be contested with anything;
Not the cares of this world,
Not money,
Not gold,
Not career,
Not ambition,
Not even family,

For Christ!

And my question to us this morning is this:
What holds your affection?
What consumes your heart?

Do a heart check when you see this, and honestly write what you find down.

And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.
Mark 1:4-5 NIV

Here, we see John calling men to repentance and to be baptized, and they came in flocks.

John was asking that they do something against their belief actually.
Baptism was meant for Gentiles who wanted to accept God and become Jews.
So telling Jews to come and be baptized is telling them they are just like the Gentiles they carry shoulder for.
It is telling men who perceive themselves as belonging to God that they do not really belong to God. Much rude if you ask me.
Telling them they are far away from God and need Him just as the Gentiles do.
This would have been so unacceptable, I believe. But then a lot of people went ahead to be baptized. They left what they knew and thought was right.

You want to know why?

John lived His life standing in the presence of God

Before He came teaching, He was in the wilderness, away from the noise of the world. Just Him and God. Not caring for how he looked or choice food to eat.

The one who has a habit of standing in the presence of God commands so much authority, people had no other choice but to listen to him. People left their experiences and what they knew because John carried the authority of God. He didn't have to force any man to accept.

He had been with God.

And I tell you this, being with God changes everything.

So many things we struggle with are sorted from the place of just being in the presence of God.

You will not have to lobby for certain things, the light from God's presence will cause men to come.

John was also prepared for a need.
There was no prophecy for 300 years before him, the people were craving to hear from God.

See, the world still craves.
Are you part of the men the Lord is sending to them?
First, you must be intimate with Him. This should be a habit.

Intimacy with God is not a choice. I tell you, you do not get to choose. It is not either or.
For the sons of God whose manifestation the world awaits, we cannot compromise on intimacy.

In fact, especially for the season the body of Christ is entering. I sincerely can’t wait to share what the Lord has laid on my heart for 2026 with us.

Just know this, intimacy will be the differentiator in the coming year!

Jesus, sent from God

“And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness,”
Mark 1:11-12 NIV

I neva see this kind thing before.
After endorsement, are we not supposed to be seeing this man on news channels up and down?
From flier to flier?
But see what happened, instead, immediately after God endorsed Christ, scripture says the Spirit immediately sent Him out to the wilderness.

Hear me:
God hides His best men.

Ah! God cooks His best men.
He is not in a hurry to show you to the world.
A lot of us are in a hurry. We want the limelight, but God wants us to Himself.

He remained there in the wilderness for forty days, enduring the ordeals of Satan’s tests. He encountered wild animals, but also angels who appeared and ministered to his needs.
Mark 1:13 TPT

"enduring the ordeals of satan's tests"

Kai! Kai!

There are some tests God wants you to pass in private.
God will not leave you to public spectacle.
Please stay and allow yourself to be cooked.

...Back to that verse 13

Nothing we are going through that Christ didn't go through o.
He endured satan’s test.

I like the balance to this perspective also: though Jesus encountered various tests from the enemy,
He had angels who appeared and ministered to His needs in that period also.

How bad is the test?
How much is it shaking you?
Are you feeling like this is the end, or you will never get out of it?
I pray your eyes are opened to the angels surrounding you in such a time as this, to minister to your needs.

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.”
Mark 1:35 NKJV

Mark 1 is so packed!
Jesus’ life was a full one.
Healing the sick, casting out demons, preaching back to back.

But the little time he had?
He did not miss fellowship. In fact, He departed from others to have that time.

If there is anything you pick here today, it is to not negotiate your time alone with God.

Honour it! Keep to it!

It didn’t matter that Jesus had been working for God all day and should be tired; He still went to be with God.

This is your cue if you haven’t been with God alone today.
Please drop your phone and meet with Him.
Make it a habit.

What we enter is the season of intimacy. You will do nothing outside of it in the coming year.

Please pause and go meet God. Then let this become a way of life for you.

I pray for you that even as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we do not lose sight of why He came and the joy of fellowship with the Father. We stay in intimacy with the Lord all of the days of our lives. Amen.

Many are Called but Few are Chosen: A Holistic Study of Jesus's Parables in Matthew 21 & 22

Following our recent study of Matthew 22, a number of people had questions, and so in this teaching, I will be going over chapters 21 and 22 in order to answer those questions.

Let us Pray:

Our Father in Heaven, we say thank you for this privilege to hear from you again,  and so tonight we pray for timely words for this season, that as we hear from you we receive the capacity to obey in Jesus name.

Question 1

So here is the first question that was asked from The Parable of the wedding feast in Matthew 22, and the question basically is, "Why was the king angry at the guest who received a sudden invitation for the wedding and did not dress appropriately for it?"

We will have to read the entire passage. We cannot isolate the wedding garment from the invitation or the invitation from the rejection. Every detail is important and is a buildup to the final verse in that passage, which is verse 14:

Many are called but few are chosen

The second thing I want us to note is that the parables of Jesus are metaphorical. They are earthly stories designed to reveal spiritual truths. Every image used (the king, wedding guests, garments, etc) is a symbol pointing us to deeper truths about God.

Finally, when reading scriptures, it is important that we never read them in isolation or try to interpret them directly. Scripture must interpret scripture; we must look at cultural context, too.

This protects us from arriving at the wrong answers and helps us see plainly what Jesus was saying.

Now, back to Matthew 22:1-14.

I’m going to be doing a verse-by-verse exposition of this scripture so we understand exactly what is happening here.

1. And Jesus answered!

“And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said:” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22‬:‭1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

You see those first 3 words, that’s what I need us to pay attention to first. It is the foundation that we will build on.

“And Jesus answered...”

This is the beginning of a new chapter, yet it looks like a continuation of something, like a reaction to something that already happened.

What happened before Matthew 22:1?

What was He answering?

What was the question?

We will have to go back to Matthew 21 to make sense of it.

In Matthew 21 and the preceding chapters, we’d see that Jesus had done so many miracles. But in chapter 21, in addition to the miracles, He got upset and drove out those who were buying and selling in the temple. He went to another place after this, and that was where He spoke to the fig tree. When He came back to the temple (vs 23), the Pharisees came to confront Him and ask, Whose authority He was performing the miracles by.

They were not just questioning the miracles or His right to preach; what they really questioned was His claim to be sent by God. And this is funny, because there was before them every proof that Jesus was indeed sent by God.

In fact, they walked round that proof a lot. See what they did when Jesus asked about John’s baptism, if it was from God, so He could use it to direct them to the truth;

“The baptism of John—where was it from? From heaven or from men?” And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say to us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’ But if we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the multitude, for all count John as a prophet.” So they answered Jesus and said, “We do not know.” And He said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.” Matthew‬ ‭21‬:‭25‬-‭27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

See their response.

A part of them knew, but they were stubborn in heart.

How dare Jesus?

They wanted the Messiah to look a certain way and to be exclusive to the Jews.

It was right after here that Jesus then began to speak to them in parables as answers to the stubbornness of their heart.

The first answer was the parable of the 2 sons, which Jesus used to expose their disobedience. (Matthew 21:28-32)

The second answer was the parable of the wicked vinedressers, which Jesus used to show them how they rejected the prophets and are now even rejecting Him, the Son of God.

The third answer is what we now see in chapter 22 that we are talking about: The parable of the Feast.

2. The King arranged a marriage

Like I said earlier, we must pay attention to everything closely.

Verse 2 of chapter 22 opens with this: that the kingdom of Heaven is like a king who arranged a marriage for His son.

In scripture, one of the ways God describes our relationship with Christ is that of a bride and her groom. A marriage!

The Pharisees had an issue with this arranged marriage. They wanted to be its custodian; they wanted to determine who the groom would marry and what the groom should like.

But Jesus was clear, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a king who arranged a marriage for His son.

The subject of Salvation is determined only by the Almighty!

Salvation is God’s idea,

Salvation is God’s invitation,

So only God determines who enters into it.

The Pharisees and teachers of the law did not have a say.

This is where this chapter opens.

From verse 3-6, we see how the king sent his servants to call those already invited, but they refused to come. Not just a set of servants o, he kept sending people, yet they refused.

These invited guests represent Israel, specifically the religious leaders who had the Scriptures and were the first to be invited to God’s kingdom, but rejected Christ.

When we look at that verse 3, there is a breakdown of the response of people to the invitation:

The first set was not willing. They just were not interested.

The second set made light of the calling and were busy with their business and personal affairs.

The third set attacked/killed the messengers.

You see these 3 responses in the parables? They are scattered all over the Old Testament.

Jeremiah, Elijah and Zechariah were ignored completely.

Did Elijah not warn Ahab?

It’s even a good thing that we are currently reading the book of Jeremiah.

Were the prophets not persecuted by men who didn’t want to hear the truth?

In fact, the only time we saw Elijah “weak” in OT was because Jezebel was trying to persecute him.

Jesus was pointing out to the religious leaders how they were repeating Israel’s pattern of rejecting God’s messengers, and their actions now culminating in the rejection of Jesus Himself.

What we are seeing in this parable is an explanation of what was truly happening.

3. The wedding is ready

“Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.” Matthew‬ ‭22‬:‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God had a plan for salvation. Promised to Abraham, his blood descendants were meant to come into this covenant first. The plan for salvation was ready but a people rejected it.

Their worthiness was based on only one thing: their acceptance or rejection of the invitation.

“Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.’ So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests.” Matthew‬ ‭22‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

4. The invitation is for all—good and bad!

Since the first invited guests rejected the king, He opens the invitation to everyone:

“Go into the highways… gather all you find, both bad and good.”

It doesn’t matter their background or nationality,

It doesn’t matter if they are good people or bad people,

Invite ALL into the kingdom!

This is the grace of God revealed!

How people did not have to do to earn anything!

The King called for a feast and sent invitations to everyone.

The Pharisees wanted an exclusive Messiah. They wanted to be custodians badly and carry their noses up for other people.

The part I like about this verse:

And the wedding hall was filled with guests.

If I hear that we are not many!

If I hearrrrrrrr!

The body of Christ is expanding daily!

Don’t be deceived by what the media says,

We are manyyyy!!

Now, to the part where our questions came in,

5. The man without the wedding garment

“But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’” Matthew‬ ‭22‬:‭11‬-‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

…He saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment.

What a heavy statement.

My own is, if we say there were a lot of poor people who came in, street guys, the possibility of having a lot of them not having a garment is high.

But he saw just a man.

Why was it only one out of all the poor men who did not wear garment?

Where did the rest see garment?

We will pick and answer these questions both literally and metaphorically.

Let’s start with cultural context,

In those days, according to Jewish cultural practice, when a king or a really noble man invites people for a banquet, they provide the garments that people will wear. The “aso ebi” is supplied freely by the host. The king was providing everyone with what to wear. The minute you accepted the invitation to come to the wedding, it means you have accepted to wear the king’s garment.

But there was a man who did not have the garment on?

Why?

Is it that someone forgot to give him?

How we know that they didn’t forget to give him a garment was that the man was speechless when he was confronted.

If someone forgot to give him a garment, the right response would have been “ah sorry o, where are they sharing?”

“I didn’t know I’m supposed to collect garments o.”

“It’s your servant, e dey beef me so he didn’t give me garment.”

This is not the case.

This man was offered a garment like everyone else, as it was customary in those days, but he didn’t wear it.

Friend, how did you come in here without a garment?

I kept looking at that verse, and I’m like, I’ve seen this before and then I remembered

"Friend", is what Jesus called Judas when he came up to betray Him.

It is that expression of, "I offered you everything I gave the rest of the disciples",

I gave you my love as I did Peter,

I gave you my time,

I gave you my heart,

I washed your feet too,

Yet…

That same expression.

I invited everyone just like I did you,

I didn’t care your background,

I didn’t care what you have done or not,

I didn’t care about worthiness or unworthiness,

I invited you,

Yet you rejected my offer,

You rejected my garment.

Random, but in my head ehn, that guy just wanted to come and eat party jollof. 😭

He did not like or honor that invitation. There was no form of reverence for the one who invited or love for the one who was wedding, and this is the same as so many people in the kingdom who come to Christ.

A lot of us are believers based on what we can get.

There is no love for the son,

There is no reverence of the Father,

We just want to take and take.

Now, let’s move to the spiritual breakdown of this verse.

In scripture we’d see from the very first man that God clothed His own.

“Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Adam and his wife had sinned, and they were trying to cover their nakedness. But this was insufficient; they still did not understand it.

God had to step in and make clothes for them.

You see that part of without me you are nothing? We must get it completely. Adam missed it.

Even though they had sinned against God, it was still that same God who tried to cover their shame. He did not need their effort because their effort didn’t even cover them well. It wasn’t covering enough. They still needed to hide, even though they had tried to cover themselves.

What does this garment symbolize spiritually?

Righteousness, provided by God!

None of us can provide righteousness for ourselves.

Though all men have been invited to the presence of God, the King, the tenets of God is that His throne is established on righteousness.

To appear before Him, the demand is righteousness.

This good king, knowing that people cannot help themselves, then goes ahead to help us by providing exactly what we need to stand before Him.

“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” Isaiah‬ ‭61‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Even the prophet Isaiah saw it and prophesied,

“For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” Galatians‬ ‭3‬:‭27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

See how Paul puts it,

As many of you were baptized into Christ, have put Him on. Like we now wear Him as a garment, He is now our righteousness.

We are saved from doing but relying instead on the finished works of Christ.

You must understand this clearly, the invitation was “invite all, invite the bad.”

The bad!

They were unworthy too, but someone had earned the righteousness that allows them access.

And this is the gospel that the Pharisees were refusing; they wanted people to earn.

But Jesus was telling them this parable that, here, in this kingdom, we don’t earn, we step into finished works.

We don’t rely on works, we wear the righteousness of Christ.

My God!

And that one man who refused to wear the righteousness?

He couldn’t continue in the feast because his own clothes were rags before the King!

The answer to the Pharisees was simple:

You cannot approach God,

The Holy God,

The Righteous God,

The Living, all-powerful God in your own righteousness earned by works.

You must come through this Son that you have rejected.

There is no other way.

You must wear the son as your garment of righteousness.

This is what the prophets were saying, and you rejected them.

The son is here now, and you still reject Him.

Jesus was telling them this was the only way.

The man who refused to wear the garment was cast out to where there is gnashing of teeth.

This message to the Pharisees stands for us today:

You cannot work to receive salvation.

You are saved by Faith in Christ not works.

Righteousness is not by deed.

Instead your deeds are influenced by the righteousness of God that you now are in Christ.

Now to the climax of this passage:

For many are called, but few are chosen.” Matthew‬ ‭22‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

This is where Jesus was going to

The invitation was sent to all:

The Pharisees

The Sadducees

The gentiles

The Jews

The good

The bad

Everyone is called, Everyone of us gets invited.

But you see that chosen part? It is not based on being a direct descendant of Abraham.

It is your response to the seed of Abraham, who is Christ.

Jesus was in essence pointing the Pharisees and teachers of the law back to Himself.

There is no way to the Father except through Him!

They’d need to put aside their self-righteousness and accept the very one they were rejecting.

This message is the same and true for us all.

I will end with this scripture:

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV

Let us pray:

Thank You Father for your word and your truth

Thank You Father for Jesus Christ, our righteousness

Thank you for Salvation

Thank you for teaching us tonight.

Let these things we’ve heard not be mere words, they provoke something inside of us.

These words are alive in us.

In Jesus name,

Amen

GET AWAY WITH ME: THE DELIVERY ROOM

Planning The Retreat

2024's Retreat was quite a different one in approach. I remember I had been praying towards the Retreat and waiting on God for instructions, not knowing what was next. During that period, I got some words on the 24th of July 2024.

I didn't know or understand, but I documented.

On the 1st of August, just before I went to sleep, I heard another word:

"Shall a woman go to birth and there not be blood?"

I traveled to Ikoyi Mountain on August 16 to pray and just get directions. I got some words also (attached from book), but it was still unclear what the theme was.

We began planning, praying and all, but something was missing, the theme of the Retreat.

The way I approach our Retreat theme is that it points to the overall/blanket work that God wants to do in our midst. People were asking what the Retreat theme was, but I didn't have an answer yet, and I told them exactly that; we were waiting on the Lord.

September 3rd

I got a word to announce the theme of the Retreat that weekend, and the instruction was simply "I will tell you."

So I made an announcement to the admin that I would be announcing the Retreat theme that week, even though I didn't know what it was. I shared the words the Lord had told me and the recurring things I saw:

The Forging Place

The Delivery Place

The Delivery Room

We prayed on it, but no one got a concrete direction.

My visions, of course, continued to increase. I would see myself randomly in very huge ward rooms filled with pregnant people and everyone birthing at the same time, with me midwifing. In some of these visions, I was also pregnant and birthing even as I helped others to.

Another vision I kept having was of a blacksmith forging a sword inside of fire. The visions just kept coming back.

The night before the day I was meant to announce the theme (I had shared a date for the announcement as commanded by the Lord), I had a vision where I saw the delivery scene again:

A whole lot of pregnant people, having birth pangs in the same place and unable to put to bed. This time around, I was pregnant too and as I was trying to assist them. Then I saw the angels of the Lord fill up the room and begin to help people.

I was transported back to the entrance of the room, and in front of it I saw: The Delivery Room

I heard to recreate this in visuals for men to see. So we set out looking for hospitals. After days of searching, we finally found one at no cost. The doctor was also so gracious to us that she helped us understand certain things about birthing that shed more light on all the Lord had been telling us about the Retreat.

WATCH FULL VIDEO HERE.

Before this period, we had struggled with planning. More like we weren't planning, we were just praying. I would call the Admin and tell them they don't look Retreat-ready o, and nobody would say anything. We didn't even onboard the Retreat team until about a month to the Retreat. Announcements also came in September (the exact date God asked us to share). We just stayed praying and for some weird reason, we were not disturbed or moved by not knowing. There was just this assurance that when it was time, God would speak. And oh, when He did, everything just began to come together.

When we onboarded the Volunteers, and it felt like a fresh fire was immediately poured on the Volunteers to cover grounds. We had testimonies of these people seeing switches in their spiritual life. Almost immediate switches!

Another thing that happened during the Retreat planning was that the Lord had placed me off fasts last year and insisted I wasn't going to do heavy fasting for the Retreat😂. Now this is very funny and I will try to explain it.

Remember, I had mentioned we didn't have anything planned physically, so the expectation would be that you are gaining spiritual traction where you can't get to yet physically. But God said "no fasting" last year, and it was for me alone. The team would fast, and they were even going to go on dry fasts.

I struggled so badly with this instruction that I went to God to negotiate if I could have some days, because how am I gathering people to go on a dry fast while I'm eating and feasting? 😂  It didn't make any sense, but little did I know that God wanted to do the full heavy lifting. He didn't require help from anyone. He just wanted me praying.

Another thing God kept emphasizing was to go back to the Retreat testimonials from previous years. I had heard this for the first few months when I was praying alone and assumed it was for just me, only to have people volunteer, and it was the same instruction I got again. So we shared with the volunteers and even with the general group. God promised that the Retreat was going to be a culmination of everything we had experienced in the previous Retreats and more. Like all major miracle highlights joined together and oh, how we saw this! 😭😭😭

All of the words we had gotten concerning the Retreat were now making sense, one after the other.

Please read the words HERE.

The Journey to Ikoyi and The God who funds His works

The week of the Retreat came, and it was time to travel down. I had two people join me on the trip to Ibadan (one of them was completely new to the Retreat volunteers team).

We had a budget of around 10 million naira and we had not even raised up to 2 million.

We had to go to Ibadan without provision for a bus or a car to assist the planning team with moving around.

I was quite quiet on the trip as the day of the Retreat was almost near (I think I'm mostly always like this on the week of Retreats. By Monday, I'm largely very quiet. I just find myself getting detached from physical activities, and my visions are instead filled with the things the Lord is about to do.

We were here...

It didn't matter that we didn't even have half of the money needed. Money has never stopped me. I have seen God provide in all the ways provision can happen. I have seen Him send random men messages to send money to me, men that I didn't speak to about anything. I have seen Him miraculously multiply the money in my hands. So at that point, money wasn't a worry. My God would do it!

We arrived in Ibadan and proceeded to draw a food timetable and budget. From the budget, we needed about 6.7 million naira for immediate expenses.

Two days before the Retreat, we had raised about 3.7m.

One thing I saw in the giving towards the Retreat was the tiny drops that made the ocean (I like to call them mighty drops). We had hundreds of people giving 1k, 2k, ₦500, 3k, 5k. Each amount on the surface almost looked small and insignificant, but I sensed God was about to do something with it. The reminder I kept having was the 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes that fed thousands. So I'd show really great excitement and really praise God for every 1k we received. I never complained or wondered if we'd get the full money at the rate we were going. I knew.

So we set out to buy the things necessary with the money on ground.

We got to the market and things were even way higher than what we had budgeted, but we were able to buy more things than the money we had at hand. Over 900k more. I remember at some point we stood in front of the garri seller's shop and were trying to do calculations. God was repeating miracles we had seen before. He was doing them again!

By the time we got home, we calculated the extra money we got and logged all into the Retreat accounting sheet but things weren't balancing. We had spent more than we had in our account, again (and there was still money). We kept trying to calculate afresh and the laptop would literally shut down every time we did. It felt like we were trying to understand the how of the miracle and God was saying to praise Him in that moment instead. I went on my knees immediately and we blessed God together before we slept.

The day of the Retreat came, and we went to pick up the cow we had bought. For some weird reason, I began to throw up and had a very bad headache. I was tempted to stay back at home but I decided to go with them instead.

We got to the market and while trying to kill the cow, someone in the committee came and claimed we didn't want to pay him, even though we had separated the cash immediately we were told and asked for him.

He kept making a statement that he was the devil, and we will see what the devil can do. I knew what was happening was spiritual, so I just stayed back and prayed in the spirit.

We would hear this exact statement about three times by the way, from different people across different locations.

The devil was angry, but there was nothing he could do beyond throwing tantrums.

We'd get home and prepare to leave for the Retreat, only for more things to come up again. The driver who went to drop the first team refused to pick up the rest of us, even though he had collected over 70% of the money charged, which was overpriced in the first place. He dropped the contact person with him (Wale) in the middle of the road, and there was a heavy downpour. This was someone not familiar with Ibadan, stuck in the rain in the middle of nowhere. While he finally tried to reach us, his phone got bad. We could only pick the area he was in and not the exact location. We had to take an Uber down there (it was just about 4 of us left. Every other person was at the camp already), then began to search for him in a big town and shouting his name on the road😅. We finally found him, and God so good, he had found another bus willing to take us.

In the middle of all these, we kept getting calls from the Retreat team already at the venue that someone was threatening to leave and had made statements that he was the devil, and we'd see the devil. This was the 3rd time we heard this, the bus driver also said something like this.

Again, the enemy throwing tantrums.

On our way, Bukky reminded me of a vision I had seen before the Retreat about the young man in question (I had never met him in person). I knew immediately that the devil wanted him to leave the Retreat ground. The Retreat was God's intervention and a way of saving him from death. So I begged that he should be pacified until I arrived.

We got to the venue and I finally saw him. He kept insisting on leaving the next morning, so I just prayed and left it in the hands of God. By morning, he'd agree to stay back and later confirm some things that happened at home in his absence that would have taken his life if he were at home. The devil was crafty and had done all to ensure he was home that period.

I got in on the first night and saw a crowd of over 200 people; with more people still set to arrive the next day. Looking around I saw a people God had come for. I saw a really heavy cloud, like it was about to rain heavily and lives were about to change forever.

We gathered together and just worshipped. That night, the atmosphere tipped completely.

It had begun!

Saturday, Day 2

We went up the mountain to just worship. The mountain top was hot but everyone found their spot before the Lord and just bowed in adoration. We worshipped God. We hosted God. We hosted the angels of God. It was such a beautiful sight, every one of us from different denominations and backgrounds bowing before our God, doing what the angels were doing. Everyone, lost in worship before their God.

What a sight!

What a moment!

We were there for about 3 hours just doing what they did in Heaven.

I saw the Lord ride on our worship and He began to distill the atmosphere and people. That session felt like a preparation. I saw an unburdening happening. God just taking people's gazes off the needs they came with and refocusing on Himself. At some point, I saw a bright light appear over us and it covered everyone and formed a fire that poured on us all.

After a while, the bright light began to disperse into a thin line like a jet line, and as we descended the mountain that day, the line began to fade.

We headed back home, had lunch, bonded and rested for the next session in the evening.

Saturday Evening Teaching

It began to rain early so we had to use somewhere else unplanned for the next session.

We got access to a church opposite the hostel, but had some challenges. There was no light and it was already getting late.

We went in still and used our torchlights and phones.

We first worshipped as a family. PS, one thing I have learnt in ministry is hosting God. You want God in a meeting? Worship Him with all your heart, He will come down to receive His worship. And because God will never go anywhere alone, neither will the angels and the hosts of heaven miss out on the opportunity to worship God with those of us on earth, they show up alongside.

After worshipping, I shared the teaching the Lord had laid on my heart. The Lord had specifically told me that the teaching was to happen before the vigil. It was to prepare men for the work He was about to do:

People who had missed the timing of their lives

People who had been stuck inside of endless cycles

One minute it looks like they are coming out and the next minute they are back.

People who had been trying to birth but had been unable to.

My initial plan was that we prayed, actually. We travailed in the place of prayer but God wanted to speak to men about something else. The title of the teaching is: How to Birth the Visions of God for your Life (WATCH HERE)

That teaching was such a liberating one.

God taught us Himself!

He showed us what had stopped delivery all this while.

He showed what had caused delays and gave instructions on what to do.

He showed us the trick of the devil with delay. You know how we say 'Delay is not denial'? Oh, with the devil, the endgame for delay is denial.

That is exactly what he aims for, and he just needs a little bit of complacency here and there. He needs men to just accept the delay until they are denied entry completely. He needs us to tolerate those things. God began to show us how we had been tolerating the devil and his whims. No more. No more!

And then He crowned it by reminding us of His mercy.

You will have to actually watch the teaching to understand it.

At some point, we all couldn't hold it in,

Grown men were crying like babies

That teaching was life! I believe it still carries the same anointing. Please do go back and watch!

We were there for about 3hours and 30 minutes, after which we took a short break so we could go to the main hall for a vigil.

Something had happened during the teaching. God had prepared His children for what was to come.

He had laid the ground properly.

Hearts were now ready for the water that had been stirred.

I had a couple of people speak to me after the teaching; people who felt like I was talking about them directly for everything shared prophetically.
I had a case of 2 people who came to the camp suicidal, and the teaching carried exactly what they needed to hear.
One of them came to me just crying for a long time, and he couldn't say anything.

God had done something
The first prep was done!

Night Vigil 1; Hosting the Lord

We gathered at 11pm for the first night vigil.
I knew that God didn't want me to speak much at this meeting. I didn't teach. We worshipped, Bukky gave a short exhortation and then, we allowed God.

Oh! We Allowed God!
This is the part I really love about doing ministry.

God, being God
God, Doing!
God, doing God things.

First, it is how He inhabits the praises of His people,
How He makes Himself visible to us.

Jesus was in the room and He came for everybody

I saw Jesus with His eyes blazing with fire
I saw God in a way I had never seen Him before,
I saw Him dancing first with a very few people. They who knew how to host their God.
And then all of a sudden, like wildfire, I saw it all spread.
We were before His throne room
We were before His throne room 😭😭😭😭

I wasn't a worship leader or a preacher, I was a worshipper before her God
I was a child before her Father.

Then the atmosphere switched. I saw myself fall forward and my hands touched people's legs. One of them would later tell me that I grabbed her leg the very minute she grabbed the legs of Jesus for mercy. Another would share that that was when fire came down.

For Saturday night, God said something: it was an outpouring and then deliverance

Delivery from oppression

Delivery from the wrong mindset and mentality

One on One before God

I saw God fighting battles for men,
I saw the cherubs with drawn swords.
They were fiery and looked like they had come to fight and win for all.

The Lord began to highlight people who had been eating in their dreams to me. They all came out, and we laid hands on them.

At some point during the meeting, tongues began to switch. People were drinking from God. There was a drunkenness in the spirit...

Everyone had entered!
Everyone had entered!

I heard groaning and tongues that I had not heard before
Fire literally erupted
And then came the move of the prophetic
So many people heard God speak for the first time
So many spoke in tongues
So many operated in the gift of prophecy and interpretation of tongues.

The glory of God filled the room. Everyone was before God and we stayed this way till the session ended around 8am.

People left that session filled and full!

Sunday, Day 3

Before the Retreat, one of the words we got was that we would feed the community. We got this word whilst we were praying for provision. There was literally nothing in the account at that time.
It didn't make sense in any way.
But that was my proof of provision.
That was how I knew.
In fact, it was immediately after that day that I started asking for the price of a cow. I told the team we'd kill a cow for the Retreat. I probably sounded wasteful and unserious to some people because where was the money?
But I knew
God will not tell you to feed a whole community if He had not already provided.

So Sunday came, we had cooked for everyone at the Retreat and made 200 extra plates of food.
The instruction was to plate the food as though we were serving kings—huge portions, which we did.
Everyone at the Retreat was to make sure they gave at least one plate of food out and if people asked why we were sharing we were to tell them that our day of Joy had come.
It was an opening to our season of congratulations. This is how people celebrate in our world: they share food. God was pointing us ahead.
We took the food and shared it all over the community.
It wasn't enough. We came back and packed what we had cooked for ourselves and shared it out also.

People began to pray and dance with us as we gave out the food, and I heard the Lord begin to speak that seasons of loss were now over. We had entered the season called Joyous Celebration, the one where men rejoice with us unfailingly. And how true these words have come to be!

How true they have been!

The people in the community prayed for us so randomly, but with the very individual promises we had heard from God.
During this, we got a word that the pregnant women in our midst should buy biscuits for the children in the community, and the Lord used this as a seal for them.

We danced before God, then ended with prayers and went back to the hostel.

Later that night...

We were meant to have the spiritual pool (a meeting where we just sit with God and hear Him speak), but that didn't happen. I already started sensing the Holy Spirit wasn't done from the previous vigil.

So I handed over the agenda of the meeting to Him. It was His meeting, I was fine with plans changing and things going the way the Lord wants.

Little did I know that this was the main night. Whatever we had experienced before now was child's play.

We came into the church and just started worshipping.

And as we worshipped, the glory of the Lord overshadowed us. God's presence filled the room and filled His people. And then there was an eruption.

It started with one of our sisters. The Lord had highlighted her to me. She had sown so faithfully towards the Retreat. She started giving from the previous Retreat almost every week. God told me she was about to enter into rewards, wealth, and dominion. She was coming into the place where doors can no longer be shut against her. I called her out to just stand and worship beside me, as she is one of our worship leaders.
My eyes went to her, and she suddenly fell down, breaking my jar of anointed oil.
I had brought 2 bottles out and released God's anointing on them to bless people with.
She fell on it and broke one of them, pouring all from her body to the floor.
And I heard immediately that the overflow had begun!
She gave and poured her alabaster box on the Lord
He was about to begin an overflow in her life, and that was her sign.
We all took from the oil and rubbed it on ourselves as led by the Lord.

During the planning, the Lord had mentioned to me that I would lay hands on everyone at the meeting.
I kept that to myself at first, but someone else raised it that they got that word.
We got to the Retreat and had over 200 people, and I was wondering how I'd lay hands on about 250 people, considering all the work I had already done.

After the jar of oil poured, a prophetic atmosphere opened up and the Lord began to call out situations one after the other.

The God who sees and meets ALL, one on one!

There were cases of people with fibroids, God asked to lay hands on them, and they ALL came back days after to share that the fibroid had disappeared!
Then there were 3 cases of people whose periods were flowing and had refused to stop. I prayed for them and 2 of them had their period stopped right there at the Retreat. The 3rd person whom I had prayed for on the first day, had hers stop 2 days after the Retreat. All of these people have had their periods regulated since then.

There was a lady with sores on her private parts. God brought up her case and after we prayed for her, they literally disappeared forever!

We had people who were waiting on God for babies and marriages,
God asked that they come out and we prayed for them.
EIGHT (8) of them have had their babies this year (still counting)

SIX (6) of them have gotten married after the meeting (still counting). All 6 of them miraculously.
In fact, for 2 of these people they were both in their 40s and 50s, respectively. God settled them so beautifully and miraculously.

People waiting on God for jobs,
I remember making this call and people were shy. I kept insisting that I had seen people who lost their sources of income and were asking God, and they should come out.

They finally did and we prayed with them. The last person who came out literally got a call to resume a job that same day as we left the hall. Not even after the Retreat.

People came out and surrendered their lives to Christ.

A part of this healing night that humbles me every time I remember was when God made a call for his children dealing with suicidal thoughts, depression, hurt, and so on.
A whole lot of people came out
Some confessing they had actually attempted suicide just days before the Retreat.
There was a first timer who had just come to the Retreat because his friend dragged him down, and he had planned to go back to finish the suicide mission after the Retreat.
And there was God, compassionate
Full of love and mercy
I saw the heart of God for His children that night and it broke me completely. We felt what Heaven felt that night. Every other person in the room. We felt those burdens and everyone just burst into tears. I remember hugging each of them and feeling the weightiness of what they carried and how God didn't want it for them.
It didn't even make sense because I knew some of them and they were so bubbly. How were they planning to commit suicide and we would not see them again?

But for God, compassionate; full of love and mercy.
But for God, El roi; He who sees all of His children!

He truly came for all
He healed wounds
He attended to deep-seated hurts
He answered questions

I remember one of the attendees kept asking questions. He thought God had forsaken Him, and right there God began to speak to him. Right there. With answers.

So many miraculous things happened at the Retreat and even overflowed from the Retreat. I could go on and on.
God was really merciful. He promised us Mercy and Mercy we got.

We didn't finish the vigil until about 11am the next morning.

We ended with high praise and worship to God Almighty
For what do you give to a God that showed up for us in such a manner? 😭
We gave Him our worship and praise. High praise!

What is a Word Alive Retreat without an Overflow

Remember, I had said God promised us all of the miracles we had seen in the past Retreats put together.
One of them is multiplication/overflow.
We had counted the number of meat we cut from the cow we bought so we could portion properly and know what else to buy to complement.

For each meal serving, we had an allocated portion, and the cow meat was meant to be finished at the end of the Retreat.
We had over 300 pieces of meat left, from one cow!
We were taking from it, and it wasn't going down.
Everything we had bought and portioned accordingly, multiplied in our hands.
The sachet milks we counted and gave out as needed. We knew the exact amount we needed and bought exactly that, only to find the very items we had given out, still intact.

This was a meeting we didn't have 30% money for just 2 days before.
We did not just get provision for enough, we got an overflow!

I say it a lot that God funds His own project, and I truly mean it. I have seen it over and over again.

Inside of the guidance of God lies His provision, always. Just follow His lead. He will show you where He kept the provision.

We kept receiving seeds until the day the last group (planning team) left the Retreat ground.

The instruction was to share the items left amongst the team that served, for the husbandman would be the first partaker.
One of the things we shared was the items from the first aid box.
One of the people who was given got asthma meds. Unknowingly to us, her husband had asthma. She took them home and told him that was what was shared to her at the Retreat. I am sure he found it strange. How do you go to such a powerful retreat, and what you bring back for me is a drug?
He took out of the medication she brought home, only for her to give a testimony in one of our meetings a few months later, that after taking that medication, her husband had not had an attack in months. This was someone who had symptoms weekly.
God truly works in mysterious ways!
