What does it mean to be led by the Spirit?

I know we are all familiar with this as believers 

We hear it every day

We say it too

“I am spirit led”

But what does it really entail? What are the intricacies?

The first image that came to me as I pondered on this was a blind man.A blind man walking the streets but had someone holding them. This aide basically directs their steps. He doesn’t just tell them “go left” or “go right”. It holds their hands and moves with them

Or have you people seen anyone helping a blind person and using their mouth to tell them?

A blind man that is seasoned may be able to work with these directions, but it will not be as effective as having someone hold their hands.

Another image is that of a flock being led by a shepherd. The shepherd does not tell the sheep, go to Katsina, I’m coming. We will meet there. That’s the final destination. The sheep will be lost.

I’m going to narrow this down

A lot of us believers assume that the leading of God is the destination that He has shown us. Of a truth, the destination is a leading. But there is a process that leads to the destination that cannot be done outside of the leading of the spirit.

You cannot get to where God has told you, even if you know the place and all the details about it without being led by the spirit into it.

Choose one of these two 

A. Go blind and have someone lead you

B. Have sight and take yourself where you need to

1. To be led, we must first acknowledge that we are blind men

I’m not saying God will make us blind first o. We must know that all men are blind. And when I say blind, I do not mean physical blindness 

Leave a blind man to walk a room alone, especially a new territory or place, he is lost and confused. He will most likely get injured while trying to navigate 

Why? He cannot see! His senses are also not accustomed to where he is so he cannot wing it

We must also move beyond acknowledging to being okay as blind men. Only blind men receive this kind of help 

Those of us that can see, you will not see anyone leading me to go and buy garri. Why?

I can see. I will find my way myself

Only the blind need such help. Don’t fall into the deception that you have “eyes”. No, you don’t. You are blind. And now God is our sight 

We allow the spirit to direct us as our sight

Emmanuel Adegboye: How about we have eyes and God is our eyes?

Answer: This is wrong too. The minute you have eyes, then you need no other eyes. You can also see for yourself. And this is where a lot of us believers get it wrong 

We have eyes and we employ our eyes. We only allow ourselves to be blind men when our eyes cannot see in a manner

So we switch to the spirit in such cases. When it comes to the leading of the spirit, no backup plan. No assist from us. It is either He is Leading or not

So we have to choose one: Do we want to have eyes or we rather the Holy Spirit is our eyes

Answer: Oh. I know. That’s no problem. All teachings are engaging and it is great that you asked that

Emmanuel Adegboyega: When you say you are blind it made me feel uncomfortable because is being blind not a bad thing?

Answer: So this is perspective and context. When I say blind, I do not mean physically. I speak about it in the context of dependency. Blind people are dependent on one another to move. So when I say be a blind man or lose your sight, I am saying, stop depending on yourself in this walk

Stop using your knowledge/wisdom.Depend fully on the All-knowing God to sort out your needs. Don’t be blinded by your perceived sight. Because sight can be blinding if it is not God’s

It tells you that you can see but when you deep it you realize you really can’t see

So first things first, we accept that we are blind men

I, Olúrèmí, am a blind man and the spirit is my sight!

I will be stopping here tonight but please take time and ponder well on it 

Look at yourself

Look at areas that you’ve been seeing for yourself

Examine it all

And acknowledge first that you are blind 

You can’t see and you need help

Your eyes are opened to new opportunities

God has brought us into unusual harvest, the reaping is beyond human understanding

I keep hearing some of the words we got even last month

The Lord wants to commune with everyone of us in September. Let us open our hearts to him and enjoy His presence. Let us allow Him and welcome Him.

This first week of September

Everything the Lord you're expecting as harvest, sow it

If you're expecting money, sow it, if you're expecting food, look for people and sow by the Spirit

The Lord will show you fertile grounds

Your pastor in your local assembly, sow to them.

Every good thing that is dead jumps alive.

We testify of His goodness

I see this is a season of deeper fellowship for many of us

Instruction

-Set out time to fast

-Build a Spiritual Meal plan

I see a speed in the spirit

Something that sets things rolling, like a catalyst

Stay in the Spirit this season

Eyes will be opened to new opportunities

To where provision has been kept for you

To where help has been waiting for you
